The St. Louis Rams lose WR Keenan Burton for the year

The Rams have lost WR Keenan Burton for the year due to a torn right patellar tendon.  Burton played in 9 games for the Rams this season and he caught 25 passes for 253 yards (10.1 avg).  The Rams will likely turn to rookie WR Brandon Gibson to replace Burton in the starting lineup.  Gibson has played in 2 games for the Rams so far this season and he has caught 7 passes for 93 yards (13.3 avg).  Gibson has a higher upside than Burton so this might actually pump up the passing game a little bit as Burton was just a possession receiver.

The St. Louis Rams lose CB Bradley Fletcher for the season

The Rams have lost 23-year old CB Brandon Fletcher for the rest of the season as he needs surgery to repair a hyperextended knee.  Fletcher played in all 7 games for the Rams this season and he had 23 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and he defensed 1 pass.  This hurts the depth of the Rams’ secondary.  Fletcher was the teams’ third round pick out of Iowa in last April’s NFL Draft.

The St. Louis Rams lose OG Richie Incognito for a while

The Rams have lost starting guard Richie Incognito indefinately with a low grade LisFranc injury in his foot.  LisFranc injuries are often more serious than it first appears.  This is bad news for the Rams as Incognito is a player that brings a nasty attitude to the field which the offense will miss.  Adam Goldberg will start in his place and that’s likely bad news for both Marc Bulger and Steven Jackson.

The St. Louis Rams lose long snapper Chris Massey for the season

The St. Louis Rams have lost long snapper Chris Massey for the season due to a torn ACL in his left knee.  Back up tight end Billy Bajema will replace Massey the rest of the season.  The Rams better hope that Bajema does a good job replacing Massey as they can ill afford to leave any points on the field.

The St. Louis Rams lose DT Gary Gibson for the season

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Breaking News, Injury Reports, General Rams Chatter by admin on Monday 12 October 2009 at 11:44 am

The Rams have lost 27-year old DT Gary Gibson for the rest of the season due to a broken bone in his ankle that will require surgery.  He had 11 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and he defensed 1 pass this season for the Rams.  This is literally a bad break for Gibson who was finally getting to start in the NFL.  The Rams should be able to find someone at least as good as Gibson to replace him.
