The Rams played hard yesterday just falling a tad short on the scoreboard.  Sam Bradford looked o.k. in his first taste of the NFL as he completed 32 of 55 passes for 253 yards with 1 TD pass and 3 INTs.  Steven Jackson carried the ball 22 times for 81 yards (3.7 ypc) and he also caught 4 passes for 6 yards (1.5 avg).  Mark Clayton (10 rec, 119 yards, TD), Danny Amendola (6 rec, 67 yards) and Laurent Robinson (3 rec, 18 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Rams yesterday.  The Rams finished up with 85 yards rushing on 24 carries (3.5 ypc) and they also completed 32 of 55 passes for 240 yards yesterday.

The Rams’ D was in bend but don’t break mode yesterday.  Safeties O.J. Atogwe (8 tackles, 2 QB hits) and Craig Dahl (4 tackles, 1 QB hit and a fumble recovery) led the way for the Rams’ D yesterday.  CB Bradley Fletcher (5 tackles, 1 fumble recovery) and LB Larry Grant (4 tackles, 1 fumble recovery) also pitched in on D for the Rams yesterday.  The Cardinals finished up with 112 yards rushing on 21 carries (5.3 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 41 passes for 266 yards in this game.  The Rams might be 0-1 but they played a decent all around game yesterday.

The Rams got totally abused in this game by the 49ers.  Rookie QB Keith Null got the start and he completed 7 of 17 passes for 57 yards before he had to leave the game in the third quarter with a concussion.  Kyle Boller finished up the game and he was awful completing 4 of 11 passes for 23 yards.  He also carried the ball 1 time for 13 yards in this game.  Steven Jackson gutted it out and played yesterday carrying the ball 20 times for 63 yards (3.2 ypc).  Donnie Avery led the way in the passing game for the Rams with 2 receptions for 23 yards (11.5 avg).   The Rams finished up with 109 total yards on offense (87 rushing, 22 passing) in this game.

Safety Craig Dahl was busy yesterday for the Rams on D with 5 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 pass defensed, 1 QB hit and 1 sack.  DE James Hall also had a solid game with 5 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 sack and 1 QB hit.  Rookie LB James Laurinaitis finished  the season strong with 5 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack and 1 QB hit.  The Niners finished up with 329 total yards (125 rushing, 204 passing) in this game.  The Rams locked up the first pick in the NFL Draft this April with a 1-15 record.

The Rams looked lost without Steven Jackson who missed this game due to injury.  Keith Null got another start for the Rams at QB and he completed 20 of 31 passes for 171 yards with 1 TD pass and 3 INTs.  Chris Ogbonnaya led the way for the Rams in the running game with 9 carries for 45 yards (5.0 ypc) and he also caught 1 pass for 19 yards.  Kenneth Darby pitched in with 11 carries for 40 yards (3.6 ypc) yesterday.  Brandon Gibson led the way in the passing game for the Rams yesterday with 5 grabs for 51 yards (10.2 avg) with a TD.  Danny Amendola pitched in with 6 catches for 38 yards (6.3 avg) in this game.  The Rams finished up with only 238 yards of total offense (88 rushing, 150 passing) in this game.

The defense did not play well but it was led by safeties James Butler (11 tackles) and Craig Dahl (10 tackles).  The Cardinals finished up with 407 total yards on offense (110 rushing, 297 passing) in this game.  The Rams are now 1-14 on the year.

The Rams played the Texans tough today before falling just a little short in the end.  Keith Null looked a lot better than last week as he completed 18 of 27 passes for 173 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT.  Steven Jackson was solid despite being banged up and under the weather as he carried the ball 20 times for 82 yards (4.1 ypc) and he also caught 4 passes for 41 yards (10.3 avg).  Donnie Avery led the way in the passing game for the Rams with 4 grabs for 42 yards (10.5 avg).  The Rams only finished up with 237 total yards on offense (88 rushing, 149 passing) in this game.

The defense might have bent a lot but it didn’t break much today.  CB Ronald Bartell led the way for the Rams today with 8 tackles and 1 pass defensed.  Safety Craig Dahl was also solid with 6 tackles and a fumble recovery.  DT Darell Scott pitched in with 3 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 fumble recovery.  The Texans finished up with 419 total yards in this game (52 rushing, 367 passing).  The Rams are now 1-13 on the year.

St. Louis Rams 7, Tennessee Titans 47

Blogged under Bloglockers,Game Recaps,General Rams Chatter by Andrew on Monday 14 December 2009 at 10:13 pm

Kyle Boller could not go due to a thigh injury so rookie quarterback Keith Null was forced to start for the St. Louis Rams (1-12) against the Tennessee Titans (6-7) on Sunday, and he was obviously not ready to be a starting quarterback yet.  It was Null’s NFL debut, and he threw 5 interceptions that the Titans turned into 20 points.  Steven Jackson played through a sore back and wasn’t much help to Null.  He rushed for a season-low 47 yards on 19 carries.  Kenneth Darby did have a 51-yard run on a fake punt, one of the few good plays of the day for the Rams.

The Rams defense could not do anything against the Titans, and with the offense turning the ball over so much they were worn down early.  Even though Titans’ starting quarterback Vince Young left the game with a hamstring injury, the Rams couldn’t stop the Titans.  Young passed for 154 yards and a touchdown on 6/8 passes before leaving.  Kerry Collins came in for Young and picked up right where he left off, passing for 154 yards and a touchdown on 11/19 passes.  Chris Johnson did the most damage though, rushing 28 times for 117 yards and 2 touchdowns and catching 3 passes for 69 yards and a touchdown.  This was another ugly loss for the Rams.

St. Louis Rams 9, Chicago Bears 17

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General Rams Chatter by Andrew on Monday 7 December 2009 at 9:36 pm

Kyle Boler was awful for the St. Louis Rams (1-11) and they lost an ugly one to the Chicago Bears (5-7).  Boler could not get anything going in the passing game and finished with only 113 yards and interception on 17/33 passes.  Boler made a Bears’ defense that has been struggling look very good.  Steven Jackson was the only real offense the Rams could get, as he rushed for 112 yards on 28 carries but failed to reach the endzone.  The only points the Rams could get was from kicker Josh Brown, who hit three field goals from 20, 48, and 50 yards.

The Rams defense actually played pretty well in this one.  They failed to do what almost every team has been doing to the Bears, and that is intercept Bears’ quarterback Jay Cutler.  Cutler played very conservatively in this one though, going 8/17 for 143 yards and 1 touchdown.  They let Bears’ running back Matt Forte make too big of an impact.  Forte has been pretty bad all year and the Rams let him rush for 92 yards and a touchdown.  Overall the Rams defense did a pretty good job, holding the Bears to only 17 points and 248 total yards.  They just didn’t get enough from their offense.

The Rams made too many mistakes to win this football game.  Kyle Boller completed 28 of 46 passes for 282 yards with 1 TD pass and 2 INTs (1 was returned 65 yards for a TD by Josh Wilson).  Boller also carried the ball 3 times for 26 yards (8.7 ypc) yesterday.  Steven Jackson was busy with 23 carries for 89 yards (3.9 ypc) with 1 TD run and he also carried the ball 5 times for 27 yards (5.4 avg).  Ruvell Martin led the way for the Rams with 60 yards on 2 catches (30.0 avg) yesterday.  Danny Amendola (7 rec, 55 yards) and Donnie Avery (4 rec, 48 yards, TD) also pitched in for the Rams in the passing game.  The Rams finished up with 364 total yards (113 rushing, 251 passing) on offense as they had possession of the ball for 33:32.

LB James Laurinaitis (9 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack and 1 QB hit) and safety Oshiomogho Atowge (9 tackles, 1 pass defensed) led the way for the D yesterday.  The Seahawks finished up with 265 total yards on offense (170 rushing, 95 passing) yesterday.  The Rams are now 1-10 on the year.

The Rams showed a lot of life on offense in this game as they put a scare into the undefeated Saints earlier today.  Marc Bulger has his best game of the year for the Rams completing 26 of 40 passes for 298 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 INT.  Steven Jackson had another huge game as was expected as he carried the ball 26 times for 131 yards (5.0 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He also added 5 catches for 45 yards (9.0 avg) today.  Rookie WR Brandon Gibson had the best game of his NFL career for the Rams with 7 catches for 93 yards (13.3 avg).  Donnie Avery also had a huge game for the Rams with 4 catches for 67 yards (16.8 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  The Rams finished up with 434 total yards on offense (141 rushing, 293 passing) in this game.

DE James Hall led another sub par effort by the Rams’ D with 6 tackles.  Safeties James Butler (5 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception) and Oshiomogho Atowge (5 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception) also pitched in with solid efforts on the defense today for the Rams.  The Saints finished up with 420 total yards on offense (203 rushing, 217 passing) in this game.  The special teams of the Rams also had a huge gaffe as Courtney Roby returned a kickoff 97 yards for a TD today.  The Rams have fallen to 1-8 on the year with this loss.
