The Rams have signed 32-year old CB Jason Craft to a 1-year contract.  Craft has played in 2 games for the Saints this season before being released and he made 9 tackles.  Craft has now played in 135 games in his NFL career and he has made 345 tackles, has defensed 52 passes, has 1 sack, forced 6 fumbles and he has 13 interceptions.  Craft will likely slide into Tye Hill’s old role as the nickel back.  But, if Hill continues to get toasted Craft could be in the starting lineup soon.

The Rams have signed 35-year old WR Eddie Kennison to a 1-year contract.  He will likely be starting by week #3 for the Rams as he played for Offensive Co-Ordinator Al Saunders in Kansas City.  Kennison played in 8 games last season for the Chiefs and he caught 13 passes for 101 yards (7.8 avg).  Kennison has had a long NFL career and he will likely help the Rams out this season.  Kennison has now played in 176 games in his NFL career and he has caught 548 passes for 8,345 yards (15.2 avg) with 42 TD grabs.  He also has carried the ball 39 times for 282 yards (7.2 ypc) in his career.

The Rams didn’t wait too long to go after Ricky Manning Jr. when he was cut by the Bears.  The 27-year old Manning is a very talented player and he will likely be the nickel back at the start of the season.  Manning played in 16 games (5 starts) with the Bears last season and he made 44 tackles, had 1 sack and defensed 1 pass.  It was likely just an off year for Manning as he has been a good player in his NFL career.  Manning has played in 79 games (37 starts) in his NFL career and he has made 261 tackles, has 3 sacks, has defensed 19 passes and he has 14 interceptions including 2 that he has returned for TDs.  This was a great signing for the Rams.

The St. Louis Rams have signed 31-year old fullback Dan Kreider to a 1-year contract.  Kreider is the classic blocking fullback who should be able to give Brian Leonard a breather from time to time.  He also could replace Leonard at fullback to free him up to play tailback if anything happens to Steven Jackson this season.  Kreider played in 10 games for the Steelers last season and he carried the ball 1 time for 2 yards.  He also caught 1 pass for 15 yards last year.  If Kreider gets playing time for the Rams he should help out the running game big time because of his blocking.  Kreider has now played in 113 games in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 31 times for 144 yards (4.6 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  He also has caught 60 passes for 471 yards (7.9 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  Kreider is basically just a solid, hard nosed player who makes every team he plays on better.  So, this was a good move for the Rams.

The Rams have signed WR Reche Caldwell.  Caldwell played in 8 games for the Redskins last season and he caught 15 passes for 141 yards (9.4 avg).  Caldwell has now played in 71 games in his NFL career and he has caught 152 passes for 1,851 yards (12.2 avg) with 11 TD grabs.   If Caldwell is anything more than a #3 or #4 WR for the Rams they will be in trouble next season.
