The St. Louis Rams release David Roach

The Rams have released safety David Roach.  Roach played in 15 games as a rookie for the Rams last season and he had 15 tackles.  The Rams have signed 23-year old safety Brett Johnson to replace him.  Johnson has no game experience during the regular season but he was with the Eagles last year.  This shouldn’t be much of a loss for the Rams as Roach was little more than a special teams player.

The St. Louis Rams sign kicker Shaun Suisham

The Rams have signed 28-year old kicker Shaun Suisham.  He played in 14 games for the Cowboys & Redskins last season and he made 20 of 24 field goals (83.3%).  He also connected on 25 of 26 extra points last season to finish up with 85 points.  Suisham has played in 57 games in his five years in the NFL and he has made 87 of 110 field goals (79.1%).  He has also made 101 of 103 extra points as he has 362 points in his NFL career.  Suisham will be the kicker for the Rams on Saturday Night due to Josh Brown having tweaked his hip during practice earlier this week.  Suisham probably won’t be with the Rams very long unless Brown’s injury is more serious than they expect that it is.

UPDATE:  (8/17/2010) - The Rams have released Suisham as Josh Brown now appears healthy.  He made an extra point in the pre-season opener but he didn’t get any shots at kicking a field goal.

The St. Louis Rams sign DT Chris Hovan

Blogged under Bloglockers, Free Agent Additions, Front Page, Breaking News, Injury Reports, General Rams Chatter by admin on Wednesday 9 June 2010 at 11:35 am

The Rams have signed 32-year old DT Chris Hovan.  Hovan played in all 16 games for the Bucs last season and he had 33 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and a 1/2 a sack.  Hovan has now played in 156 games in his NFL career and he has made 408 tackles, he defensed 15 passes, he has 22 sacks and he has forced 2 fumbles.  This was a good signing for the Rams as Hovan might still have something left to offer.

UPDATE:  (8/7/2010) - The Rams have placed Chris Hovan on the Injured Reserve List because of a back injury.

The St. Louis Rams sign LB Na’il Diggs

The Rams have signed 31-year old linebacker Na’il Diggs.  Diggs played in 14 games for the Panthers last season in which he made 38 tackles, three tackles for a loss, 1 forced fumble and he defensed 1 pass.  Diggs has now played in 145 games in his NFL career in which he has made 598 tackles, defensed 29 passes, has 11.5 sacks, he has forced 3 fumbles and he has 5 interceptions.  This was a good signing for the Rams who need a lot of help on defense.

The St. Louis Rams ink CB Kevin Dockery

The Rams have signed 26-year old cornerback Kevin Dockery to a deal.  Dockery’s size at 5′8″, 188 will likely cause him to be a nickel or dime back who helps out on special teams.  He played in 11 games for the Giants last season and he made made 25 tackles, defensed 1 pass  and he forced 1 fumble.  Dockery has now played in 51 games in his 4 years in the NFL in which he has made 149 tackles, defensed 25 passes, he forced 2 fumbles and he has 3 interceptions (one returned for a TD).  This was a good depth signing for the Rams.
