The Rams have dealt 26-year old OG John Greco to the Browns for an undisclosed draft pick.  Greco played in 6 games (0 starts) for the Rams last year.  He played in 26 games (4 starts) in this three years with the Rams.  The Rams don’t think Greco is starting material so it made sense to deal him to the Browns for a draft pick.

The Rams have signed 30-year old offensive guard Harvey Dahl.  Dahl played in 16 games (all starts) for the Falcons last season.  He has now played in 48 games (43 starts) in his first six years in the NFL.  Dahl will likely slide right into the starting lineup for the Rams.  This was a good signing for the Rams as Dahl is a pretty solid guard who will make Sam Bradford sleep a little better at night.

The Rams have signed 26-year old linebacker Zac Diles to a 1-year deal.  Diles played in 15 games for the Texans last year and he had 82 tackles and 4 tackles for a loss.  Diles has now played in 50 games in his first four years in the NFL and he has 223 tackles, 15 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, 3 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 1 interceptions and 3 passes defensed.  This was a solid pickup for the Rams as Diles should be able to help the defense some.

UPDATE:  (9/4/2011) – The Rams have released Zac Diles.

The Rams have signed 26-year old WR Mike Sims-Walker to a 1-year deal.  Sims-Walker played in 14 games (13 starts) for the Jaguars last year and he caught 43 passes for 562 yards (13.1 avg) with 7 TD grabs.  Sims-Walker has now played in 38 games (28 starts) in his first three years in the NFL and he has caught 122 passes for 1,648 yards (13.5 avg) with 14 TD grabs.  This was a good signing for the Rams as Sims-Walker still has a nice upside and he will likely enjoy playing catch with Sam Bradford.

The St. Louis Rams have signed 36-year old cornerback Al Harris.  Harris played in 3 games for the Dolphins last year and he had 3 tackles.  Harris has now played in 185 games in his first 13 years in the NFL and he has 453 tackles, 5 tackles for a loss, 4 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 142 passes defensed and 21 interceptions (3 returned for TDs).  The Rams hope that Harris can stay healthy because he’s still pretty good when he is.

The St. Louis Rams sign safety Quintin Mikell

The St. Louis Rams have inked 30-year old safety Quintin Mikell to a 4-year deal.  Mikell played in 15 games for the Eagles last year and he had 88 tackles (led his team), 5 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, he defensed 15 passes, had 3 interceptions, forced 1 fumble and he recovered 3 fumbles.  Mikell has now played in 123 games in his first 8 years in the NFL and he has 446 tackles, 14 tackles for a loss, 4 sacks, 7 forced fumbles, he has recovered 7 fumbles, has defensed 46 passes and he has 10 interceptions.  The Rams needed help at the back end of the defense and Mikell should provide them with exactly what they needed.  This was a great signing for the Rams.

Eric Dickerson was a great RB for the Rams

Blogged under Blast from the Past,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Rams Chatter by admin on Monday 4 July 2011 at 7:05 pm

Eric Dickerson never played for the St. Louis Rams but he’s all over the team’s record books.  Dickerson burst onto the scene with the Rams in 1983 when they were still in Los Angeles.  Dickerson played in 65 games in his five years with the Rams and he carried the ball 1,525 times for 7,245 yards (4.8 ypc) with 56 TD runs.  He also caught 123 passes for 912 yards (7.4 avg) with 2 TD grabs with the Rams.  Dickerson made it to 3 Pro Bowls in his five years with the Rams and he led the league in rushing in 1983, 1984 and 1986.  In the three years that Dickerson led the league in rushing with the Rams, he never had less than 1,800 yards!  Dickerson’s best season with the Rams came in 1984, when he set the all-time record for rushing yards in a NFL season which still stands.  He carried the ball 379 times for 2,105 yards (5.6 ypc) with 14 TD runs in 1984.  He also caught 21 passes for 139 yards (6.6 avg) that year.  Dickerson was elected into Pro Football’s Hall of Fame in 1999.   Dickerson is #2 in rushing yards (behind Steven Jackson) and he’s #2 in rushing TDs (behind Marshall Faulk) in Rams’ history.
