The St. Louis Rams will be without safety Kevin Payne for a while

The Rams will be without 26-year old safety Kevin Payne for the first 4-6 weeks of the 2010 season.  Payne played in 13 games (5 starts) for the Bears last season and he had 46 tackles and 5 passes defensed.  Payne has now played in 32 games (22 starts) in his three years in the NFL and he has made 136 tackles, defensed 12 passes and he has 1 sack.  This hurts the depth of the secondary as Payne was likely to be on the second team for the Rams in 2010.

UPDATE:  (9/5/2010) – The Rams have placed Kevin Payne on Injured Reserve ending his 2010 season.
