The Rams have signed 27-year old DT Garry Gibson to a 1-year deal.  Gibson played in 11 games last season for the Panthers and he made 9 tackles.  He has now played in 12 games in his NFL career and he has made 10 tackles.  This was nothing more than a depth signing for the Rams.

The St. Louis Rams sign WR Tim Carter

The Rams have signed 29-year old WR Tim Carter to a 1-year deal.  Carter last played in the NFL in 2007 with the Cleveland Browns.  Carter has played in 69 games in his six year NFL career and he has caught 80 passes for 1,084 yards (13.6 avg) with 4 TD grabs.  He also carried the football 11 times for 97 yards (8.8 ypc) in his career.  With the lack of WR talent the Rams currently have it was smart to sign Carter.

The St. Louis Rams trade RB Brian Leonard to the Bengals

The Rams have traded 25-year old running back Brian Leonard to the Bengals for 25-year old DT Orien Harris.  Leonard only played in 2 games for the Rams last season carrying the ball twice for 7 yards (3.5 ypc).  In his two years with the Rams, Leonard played in 18 games in which he carried the ball 88 times for 310 yards (3.5 ypc).  He also caught 30 passes for 183 yards (6.1 avg) with the Rams.  Orien Harris has moved around the league and I’m not sure what the Rams were thinking when they made this trade.  Harris played in 14 games for the Bengals last season making 14 tackles in his first NFL action.  This was a good move…….for the Bengals!

2. (35) James Laurinaitis, ILB

The St. Louis Rams were awful defending the run last season and they hope that James Laurinaitis will help them improve in that area.  Laurinaitis is the classic middle linebacker as he flows to the ball and is a solid tackler.  He is 6’2″, 255 pounds and he runs a 4.65 40.  Laurinaitis played in 51 games (39 starts) in 4 seasons with the Ohio State Buckeyes and he made 375 tackles, had 24.5 tackles for a loss, had 13 sacks, broke up 7 passes and he intercepted 9 passes.  He was a playmaker in college and the Rams hope that will convert to the pros.
