The St. Louis Rams lose Chris Draft

The Rams have lost CB Chris Draft probably for the rest of the season with a fractured foot.  Draft has played in 8 games this season for the Rams and he has 24 tackles and he has defensed 1 pass.  This injury just further depletes a Rams’ secondary that’s having serious issues stopping the pass.

Arizona Cardinals 34, St. Louis Rams 13

The Rams laid a egg in this game last Sunday.  Marc Bulger hit WR Derek Stanley with a 80-yard bomb for a TD in the first quarter and that seemed to get the Cardinals pissed off.  The Cardinals outscored the Rams 34-6 the last three quarters holding the Rams to 151 yards outside of Bulger’s bomb to Stanley.  Bulger completed 16 of 33 passes for 186 yards with 2 TD passes and 2 interceptions.  Bulger was also the Rams’ leading rusher with 32 yards on 3 carries (10.7 ypc) in this game and that’s never a good thing for the Rams.  The Rams only had possession of the football for 21:22 of this game and that just won’t get it done at the NFL level.  The defense was horrible for the Rams in this game as the Cardinals rolled up 510 total yards on offense.  The Rams fell to 2-6 on the season with this loss.

St. Louis Rams vs. Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals are entering a very important stretch of the season as they have a two game lead atop of the NFC West and they play their next three games against division foes.  The Rams are 2-1 since Jim Haslett took over and they can cut the Cardinals lead to one game with a win here.  The Cardinals will likely try to be more balanced than usual on offense as the Rams allow 152.4 yards rushing per game and 4.8 yards per carry.  Edgerrin James and Tim Hightower need to play better than they already have this season to help the Cardinals control the clock.  But, make no mistake the Cardinals will definately throw the ball often in this game as the Rams allow 233.9 yards passing per game.  Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald and Steve Breaston could all have huge games in Warner’s return to the Edward Jones Dome.

The Rams will probably lean on Steven Jackson in this game to keep the Cardinals’ defense on the field.  But, if this game turns into a shootout the Rams might be able to keep up anyway against a Cards’ defense allowing 222.9 yards passing per game and a opponents’ QB Rating of 108.6!  Still, the Rams will have to protect Marc Bulger as the Cardinals love to blitz and the Rams have allowed 24 sacks this season.

PREDICTION:  ARIZONA CARDINALS 37, ST. LOUIS RAMS 30
