The Rams have signed QB Trent Green to a 3-year, $8.9 million dollar contract to back up Marc Bulger.  The 37-year old Green has had serious injury issues that ended each of his last two seasons so the Rams better protect him if Bulger gets injured at some point.  Green played in 5 games for the Dolphins last season and he completed 85 of 141 (60.3%) passes for 987 yards with 5 TD passes and 7 interceptions (72.6 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 7 times for 32 yards (4.6 ypc).  Green has now played in 117 games in his NFL career and he has completed 2,228 of 3,668 passes (60.7%) for 27,950 yards with 162 TD passes and 99 interceptions.  This was a good move for the Rams as long as Green doesn’t get injured.

The Rams have signed TE Anthony Becht.  To this point Becht has been a career underachiever.  He played in 16 games last season with the Bucs and he caught 5 passes for 20 yards (4.0 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  He has now played in 126 games in his NFL career and he has caught 172 passes for 1,411 yards (8.2 avg) with 20 TD grabs.  Becht was likely brought in to be a backup and if that’s the case this was a decent signing for them.

The Rams have signed 26-year old guard Jacob Bell to a 6-year contract.  Bell is a little on the small side at 6′4″, 295 pounds but he’s a solid technician who will help improve a Rams O-Line that was pretty bad last season.  Bell played in all 16 games last season for the Titans and he’s now played in 55 games (46 starts) in his 4-year NFL career.  This was a good move for the Rams as they need to protect Marc Bulger better this season.

With the retirement of long time kicker Jeff Wilkins the Rams needed a new kicker and Josh Brown is one of the best in the business.  Brown signed a 5-year, $14.2 million dollar contract to kick for the Rams.  He played in 16 games last season for the Seahawks and he made 28 of 34 FGs (82.4%) including 5 of which that were 50+ yards.  He also made all 43 of his extra points last season and he ended up with 127 points.  Brown has now played in 80 games in his NFL career and he has nailed 116 of 145 FG attempts (80%).  He is 13 for 22 (59.1%) on FGs of 50+ yards.  Brown has made 223 of 224 extra points in his career and he has scored 571 points.  This was a great move by the Rams as Brown’s leg will be an offensive weapon.
