St. Louis Rams QBs are having a year to forget

The Rams had to feel that they were set at QB with Marc Bulger and Gus Frerotte on the roster.  However, the Rams have suffered a lot of injuries along the offensive line resulting in 39 sacks this season.  With so little time to throw the football Bulger and Frerotte have not had the time to find one of the best receiving corps in the whole NFL, not to mention the physical beating the two have suffered.  Marc Bulger has completed 170 of 290 passes (60.9%) for 1,789 yards with 6 TD passes and 9 interceptions (73.3 QB Rating) so far this season.  Bulger will have to wait at least a week to add to his numbers as he’s out for this weekend’s game with the Falcons.  Gus Frerotte has been much worse than Bulger this season and he will get the start on Sunday.  Frerotte has completed 67 of 120 passes (55.8%) for 672 yards with 4 TD passes and 9 interceptions (51.8 QB Rating) so far this season.

The Rams raced out to a 34-7 lead early in the 4th quarter and then they had to hold on for dear life to win their first game of the season.  The Rams were ball hogs in this game as they had possession of the football for an amazing 39:42 in this game.  Marc Bulger had a good game as he completed 27 of 33 passes for 302 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs.  Steven Jackson also threw a TD pass (a 2-yarder to TE Randy McMichael).  Jackson looked like he’s starting to get healthy as he carried the ball 22 times for 76 yards (3.5 ypc) and he also caught 5 passes for 24 yards (4.8 avg).  Antonio Pittman was also inspired against the team that drafted him and cut him before the season started.  He carried the ball 7 times for 53 yards (7.6 ypc).  Torry Holt led all Rams receivers with 8 grabs for 124 yards (15.5 avg).  Isaac Bruce (4 rec, 62 yards), Randy McMichael (4 rec, 41 yards) and Drew Bennett (4 rec, 37 yards) each caught a TD pass.  The Rams finished up with 133 yards rushing on 34 carries (3.9 ypc) and they also completed 28 of 34 passes for 276 yards.

Leonard Little will miss the remainder of the season as he needs surgery to repair a toe injury.  Little finishes the season with 19 tackles, 1 sack and a fumble recovery.  Little will be replaced at defensive end by Victor Abeyanju who has 10 tackles this season but he will be a huge dropoff for the defense.
