2. (52) Brian Leonard, FB/RB
The Rams decided to add a running back/fullback to give Stephen Jackson a break at times and be his lead blocker at other times. Leonard is a good runner that always pushes the pile and he’s an excellent receiver out of the backfield so he should fit right in on the Rams’ offense. Leonard has nice size at 6’1″, 224 pounds and he’s fast enough as he runs a 4.55 second 40 yard dash. In 47 games (45 starts) at Rutgers, Leonard has carried the football 678 times for 2,775 yards (4.1 ypc) with 32 TD runs. He also caught 207 passes for 1,868 yards (9.0 avg) with 13 TD grabs. The Rams did good in nabbing probably the best all-around back in this draft in the 2nd round.
