The Rams didn’t do too well in last April’s draft

The Rams had a lot of selections in the draft but only a couple of them look like keepers.  Only time will tell but the only player that made a big impact was first round pick Tye Hill.  Here’s the breakdown:

In the first round the Rams selected CB Tye Hill.  Hill played in all 16 games and registered 50 tackles, 3 interceptions, defensed 3 passes and recovered a fumble.  Hill will be a good player for the Rams and a starter for a long time.

In the 2nd round the Rams selected TE Joe Klopfenstein who played and started in all 16 games.  He caught 20 passes for 226 yards (11.3 avg) with 1 TD catch.  He will be the starting TE for the Rams next season but his major job will be blocking for Steven Jackson.

The Rams had 3 picks in the third round and none of them did too much.  DT Charles Wroten played in 15 games and made 11 tackles and had a sack.  Jon Alston (OLB/S) played in 3 games and made 1 tackle.  TE Dominique Byrd played in only 5 games and caught 2 passes for 39 yards and a TD.

In the 4th round the Rams picked a decent player.  DE Victor Adeyanju played in 12 games and made 34 tackles, had a sack, defensed a pass and recovered 2 fumbles (one of which he returned for a TD!).  He look like he could be a starter in the future for the Rams.

In the 5th round the Rams selected college QB Marques Hagans and tried to convert him into a running back or wide receiver but he didn’t play a down for them.

7th round pick Tim McGarigle (ILB) also didn’t play a down this season.

The Rams also selected OG Matt Setterstrom in the 7th round and he played in 7 games and started 6 of them.  He will make the team as a reserve next season and could be a possible starter down the road for the Rams.

The last pick the Rams made was OG Tony Palmer and he didn’t make the team.
