Rams 1st round pick looks like a keeper

Many thought that the Rams took Tye Hill too high in the draft, but he’s played well so far for the Rams this season.  Hill has been the primary nickel back for the Rams.  Hill has played in all 12 games this season and he has 33 tackles and 3 interceptions.  He will be a starter soon for the Rams.

The Broncos are in a tailspin and have lost 3 games in a row.  The Chargers have won 6 in a row, including a 35-27 win in Denver.

The Broncos will try to run the football with Tatum Bell (782 yards rushing) against the stout Chargers run defense which is only allowing 92.5 yards rushing and 3.9 yards per carry so far this season.  If the Broncos don’t get their running game going, Jay Cutler will be a sitting duck.  The Chargers already have 44 sacks and 13 interceptions so far this season, so Cutler will have to think fast.

LaDainian Tomlinson (1,324 yards rushing) should have a fun time with the ex-Browns along the front-line of the Broncos defense.  Look for Philip Rivers to get his yards too, probably throwing to Antonio Gates against the slow safeties of the Broncos.

Cutler is going to make some huge mistakes, and the Chargers are going to make him pay big-time.  The Chargers are going to win this football game….and BIG!

Rams fall to Cardinals 34-20

The Rams moved the ball well against the Cards defense but kept shooting themselves in the foot.  Marc Bulger completed 27 of 45 passes for 314 yards with 2 TDs and 3 INTs.  Steven Jackson had a very busy day with 21 carries for 96 yards (4.6 ypc) and 9 receptions for 69 yards.  Torry Holt had a good game too with 7 receptions for 115 yards and a TD.  Isaac Bruce added 5 receptions for 75 yards and a TD.

The Rams had problems stopping the Cards running game, as they carried the ball 37 times for 137 yards (3.7 ypc).  The Cards also completed 15 of 24 passes for 179 net yards passing.

This loss will leave a mark on the Rams this season, because you have to win these kind of games at home if you want to make the playoffs.

St. Louis Rams vs. Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals have split their last two games, but they’ve been playing alot better than earlier in the season.  The Rams snapped a 5-game losing streak by beating the 49ers last weekend.

Look for this to be the week that Edgerrin James goes off.  James has had a rough year so far, but the Rams are allowing 154.8 yards rushing per game and 5.2 yards per carry.  After James has established the running game, look for Matt Leinart (who’s playing well lately) to go after the corners of the Rams with Anquan Boldin (64 rec, 888 yards) and Larry Fitzgerald (44 rec, 618 yards).

The Rams will also run the ball a bit with big Steven Jackson (932 yards rushing) against the soft interior of the Cards defense which is allowing 122.4 yards rushing and 4.2 yards per carry this season.  Don’t think for a second that the Rams aren’t going to attack the secondary of the Cards too.  Marc Bulger (2,858 yards passing) should have little trouble finding Torry Holt (63 rec, 795 yards), Isaac Bruce (49 rec, 689 yards) and Steven Jackson (63 rec, 553 yards).

The first time these teams played, the Rams won the game 16-14.  Expect alot more scoring on Sunday, because neither of these defenses are any good.  I would think the Rams have the edge playing at home, but an upset is not out of the question here.
