Rams vs. Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs offense has come alive the last two weeks and it has needed to with the way the defense has played.  The Rams defense has played horrible the last two games, both losses, while the offense is still playing a high level.

Herman Edwards has to make sure that he doesn’t play this game conservatively, because there is no way the Chiefs will be able to stop the Rams on defense!  The Rams are vulnerable to a running game and a good tight-end, that was proven last week against the Chargers.  So look for Larry Johnson (644 yards rushing, 329 yards receiving) and Tony Gonzalez (33 rec, 441 yards) to carry the offense against the Rams.  Damon Huard, who’s having a fantastic season, will also look to get the ball deep to Eddie Kennison (24 rec, 406 yards) who has played well late.  The Rams defense allows 134.9 yards rushing per game and 215.9 net yards passing per game, so the Chiefs should be able to move the ball with ease.

Look for the Rams to be a little more balanced than usual to try to protect their lousy defense by keeping it off of the field.  Steven Jackson (605 yards rushing, 279 yards receiving) could have a huge game against the Chiefs who allow 112.7 yards rushing per game.  The Chiefs had better try to blitz the Rams often, because if Bulger (1,946 yards passing, 12 TDs, 1 INT) gets the ball off, the Chiefs are in trouble.  The Chiefs secondary doesn’t have the speed to keep up with Torry Holt (42 rec, 574 yards) or Isaac Bruce (32 rec, 493 yards) and the Rams are sure to throw deep often to those guys.

Hard to pick a winner in this game, but it should be exciting to watch!
