Rams vs. Packers

These are two teams heading in different directions.  The Rams are playing well for new Coach Scott Linehan, but the Packers have struggled under Mike McCarthy.

Running Back Steven Jackson is a big power back that gives the Rams offense a new dimension.  It the Packers use too many defensive backs on the field, the Rams will have no problem letting Jackson (367 rushing yards) pound them.  The Rams are still a passing team at heart and the Packers have huge problems in their secondary.  The Packers have allowed 292.5 yards passing per game and 7 TD passes.  WRs Torry Holt (26 rec, 332 yards) and Isaac Bruce (20 rec, 320 yards) should have huge games.

Brett Favre has been up and down this season (1,055 yards passing), but he should have a good game passing against a Rams defense that allows 213.5 yards passing per game.  WRs Donald Driver (23 rec, 319 yards) and rookie WR Greg Jennings (15 rec, 259 yards) should have alot of success against the Rams.  Favre must be careful when he throws, because the Rams have already intercepted 8 passes this year.  The Packers really need Ahman Green (215 yards rushing, 138 yards receiving) to play because the Rams are soft as Charmin against the run (120.5 yards rushing, and 4.5 yards per carry).

My gut feeling is that this will be a high-scoring, exciting football game.  I have to side with the Rams because Bulger (0 INT) protects the ball better than Brett Favre.

Rams LB injured again

Pisa Tinoisamoa dislocated his elbow Sunday against the Lions for the second time this season.  Tinoisamoa will try to continue to play through the pain.  Talk about a tough hombre.

Bulger leading the Rams offense

Marc Bulger has been a little up and down this season, but the stats look great.  Bulger has completed 84 of 141 passes (59.6%) for 1,039 yards with 5 TDs and 0 INT.  Bulger has a sparkling QB rating of 94.3.  The one area Bulger needs to improve on is that he needs to take less sacks, as he has been sacked 11 times this season.

Rams raid Lions thru the air and win 41-34

The Rams played a great game on offense and needed every single point to hold off the Detroit Lions.  QB Marc Bulger completed 26 of 42 passes for 328 yards with 3 TDs.  RB Steven Jackson continued his fine play carrying the ball 22 times for 81 yards (3.7 ypc) and a TD, he also caught 6 passes for 65 yards (10.8 avg).  WR Torry Holt caught 6 passes for 102 yards (17.0 avg) and a TD.  Isaac Bruce caught 7 passes for 100 yards (14.3 avg) and a TD.  Rookie TE Joe Klopfenstein caught 2 passes for 23 yards and a TD.

The defense had a rough time stopping the Lions offense.  LB Will Witherspoon and Corey Chavous led the team with 8 tackles each.  The Lions ran the ball 21 times for 93 yards (4.4 ypc).  The Lions completed 29 of 43 passes for 277 net yards thru the air.
