The St. Louis Rams hope they can keep the QB clean in 2009

Marc Bulger is still a good QB when he gets time to throw the football which wasn’t too often last year.  He has a really quick release and he’s hard to deal with when in rhythm.  But injuries have taken their toll on him the last couple of seasons so they need to keep him clean this season.  Strong armed Kyle Boller has been signed to back up Bulger.  Boller has a rocket arm but he tends to lock in on WRs which causes a problem for him (pickoffs).  Still, Boller is a decent backup QB.  Brock Berlin will be the #3 QB for the Rams again this season but he’s not much of a NFL QB.

The St. Louis Rams release LB Pisa Tinoisamoa

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Breaking News, General Rams Chatter by admin on Wednesday 3 June 2009 at 6:00 am

The Rams have released 27-year old linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa.  He played in all 16 games for the Rams last season making 104 tackles, defensing 2 passes, he had 3 sacks and he also forced 2 fumbles.  Tinoisamoa has now played in 84 games in his NFL career and he has made 445 tackles, defensed 25 passes, had 10 sacks, forced 9 fumbles and he had 7 interceptions for the Rams.  This was not a smart move for the Rams as Tinoisamoa was quickly snapped up by the Chicago Bears.

The Rams have signed 27-year old DT Garry Gibson to a 1-year deal.  Gibson played in 11 games last season for the Panthers and he made 9 tackles.  He has now played in 12 games in his NFL career and he has made 10 tackles.  This was nothing more than a depth signing for the Rams.

The St. Louis Rams sign WR Tim Carter

The Rams have signed 29-year old WR Tim Carter to a 1-year deal.  Carter last played in the NFL in 2007 with the Cleveland Browns.  Carter has played in 69 games in his six year NFL career and he has caught 80 passes for 1,084 yards (13.6 avg) with 4 TD grabs.  He also carried the football 11 times for 97 yards (8.8 ypc) in his career.  With the lack of WR talent the Rams currently have it was smart to sign Carter.

The St. Louis Rams trade RB Brian Leonard to the Bengals

Blogged under Trades, Bloglockers, Front Page, Breaking News, General Rams Chatter by admin on Thursday 7 May 2009 at 9:48 pm

The Rams have traded 25-year old running back Brian Leonard to the Bengals for 25-year old DT Orien Harris.  Leonard only played in 2 games for the Rams last season carrying the ball twice for 7 yards (3.5 ypc).  In his two years with the Rams, Leonard played in 18 games in which he carried the ball 88 times for 310 yards (3.5 ypc).  He also caught 30 passes for 183 yards (6.1 avg) with the Rams.  Orien Harris has moved around the league and I’m not sure what the Rams were thinking when they made this trade.  Harris played in 14 games for the Bengals last season making 14 tackles in his first NFL action.  This was a good move…….for the Bengals!
